Why the Amish Experience?

We are the only Amish attraction in Lancaster County approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Act 48, and the only Amish house tour to receive the prestigious "Heritage Site" designation, based on strict authenticity and interpretive requirements. These are not claims we make but rather certification by experts who have singled out the educational value of our product. We are proud of and committed to continuing to earn these honors.

That we have hosted tens of thousands of students speaks for itself. Many on our staff are former teachers and have collaborated on the area's definitive Amish study guide.

There are truly lifetime lessons for us all at the Amish Experience. The "AMISH TRAILS" tour combines the special effects driven production of "Jacob's Choice", a visit through the Amish Country Homestead, and an excursion deep into the Amish Farmlands. The Amish Experience F/X Theater, with its unusual sets, 3-D imagery and technical "surprises" holds the attention of any age group. This creative balance of "hardware" and "humanity" both entertains and educates. Told with compelling drama in a theater designed to showcase Disney-like special effects, multi-projection imagery, ghostly illusions and a set that brings the audience "into" the action, the subtleties of the drama of Jacob’s family are no less apparent to the inquisitive young mind.
