The Story of Jacob’s Choice
“Compelling” best describes the emotional story of “Jacob’s Choice,” told through the everyday lives of the fictional Fisher family, an Old Order Amish family of today. Shown on five different screens, witness young Jacob’s struggle in choosing the Amish church, or leaving behind family and community for the allure of the modern world.
Experience the horrendous religious persecution of their forefathers and take part in the perilous voyage to America, all magically heightened by wind, rain, smoke, fire, ghostly and other immersive special effects that thrill the senses.
Jacob’s challenges with faith, tradition, and loved ones in a fast-changing world is a story that touches each of us, young and old, in a poignant and memorable way. More than any other Amish attraction, “Jacob’s Choice” will leave you with an understanding of what it means to be Amish, and the ties that continue to bind the community together through the centuries.

The dramatic tale of “Jacob’s Choice”, an Amish family’s effort to preserve a lifestyle and a culture, is unforgettably told through a high-tech, multi-media production with visual effects, sound design, and mechanical effects. Visitors experience “400 years of history in 40 minutes of magic.”
The Amish Experience Theater has been designed to break down the barrier between audience and movie screen. Changes in the environmental space within the theater literally allow you to “experience” the action as it unfolds around you.
Neither an IMAX nor a 3-D movie, the theater set consists of actual barn siding, with five multiple projection screens, 100,000 watts of theatrical lighting, custom-designed mechanical special effects, four-dimensional sound imagery, an original musical score, and unforgettable ghosting effects.
“Jacob’s Choice,” nevertheless, remains at its heart an emotional, personal story of an Amish family and the resilience of Amish culture through the ages.
